Is The Vampire Romance Market Too Crowded?
By b2b on November 23rd, 2009I’m probably going to be sending off my vamp romance novel to publishers in a few months.
Will publishers have lost interest in the genre by now as the market is too competitive, or will competitors only spur demand?
There are a lot on the market but most of them are just rubbish…and i should know as i read loads of books. If your story has a good solid storyline, plenty of action with some decent sex scenes then I don’t see why it wouldn’t be published. If people are buying the genre then publishers are going to carry on publishing them, they’ll only start cutting down when buyers stop.
I enjoy the stories most that have the romance as an added bonus rather than the be all and end all. Loads of action for me and i prefer those that are part of a series or the comic ones.
Good luck and hope to be reading you soon.
If it’s got an original angle, and is well written, then why not send it.
On the downside yes they will have thousands of these novels on their desks.
However, on the positive side, there’s obviously a market for them so the good ones will get published.
I’m writing a book a vamp too so i’m worried about it. Well if the market keeps making money it is likely they’ll have interest but if the story is very good they wouldnt miss the oppurtinity no matter what the genre is.
It probably is over crowded but it’s like anything, if it’s good enough and you get a bit of luck you can make it work. Good luck!
Uh, yeah, try again in like 10 years! (sorry to burst your bubble, but publishers are overflowing with vampire romance books at the moment)
If the audience wants it, the audience shall get it. It’s called a business.
the only decent one iv seen ever is the true blood series
TWILIGHT SUCKED BOLLOX and the girl in it was a miserable bit*h
actually queen of the damned was very good also
If it’s unique, well-written, and original, I don’t see why they wouldn’t read through it at least. If they like it, they’ll publish it.
Yes, for heavens sake. Half the women on this site are writing cliched stories about Vampires in Love. By now it is the most overused cliche on planet Earth and Gliese 876b.
There seems to be a lot of vampire reading material going around these days.
Things could move on eventually, and that will be the nail in the coffin.
Yes…no publisher wants more vampire romance stories.
vampires aren’t even real. how are they supposed to love if they don’t even exist. i think you wasted your time.
